If you love dogs, then Dog Show, a 1000pc dog jigsaw puzzle from Heye is for you. The cartoonish illustration shows a chaotic dog show packed full of dogs and one unlucky cat. Overall, the puzzle was very challenging for a 1000pc jigsaw puzzle. This is our fifteen puzzle completed from our 87 puzzle collection.
Artist did a great job illustrating a whimsical and outlandish dog show. The artwork has all different type of dogs and owners. Dogs behaving badly and nicely. We counted over 90 dogs and one unlucky cat up in a tree. Our favorite part was an owner dressed in a dog suit carrying their dog.
The core strategy was to break the puzzle up into smaller areas and sort those areas first, specifically the border, sky, trees, red walkway, tan walkway, seated audience, vendors, and the winners podium. We quickly assembled the border, sky, tree, and vendors. However, the other areas quickly bogged us down. In the end, the grassy fields were the last parts to be completed due to multiple areas with grass.
Dog Show was much more difficult than most other 1000 piece puzzles that we’ve solved in the past. Surprisingly, it took us 4 hours and 43 minutes to complete the puzzle. Typically, we solve a 1000pc puzzle in about 3 hours and 40 minutes. The hardest part of the puzzle was the many small detailed areas, such as the individual dogs, owners, and field of grass. Overall, Dog Show is the hardest 1000 piece dog jigsaw puzzle that we have worked on.
Heye puzzles are of high quality. The pieces are thick, made of blue chipboard, and interlocks sufficiently. The illustration is printed on linen paper. The puzzle comes with a poster insert, which is always a plus when multiple people are working on the puzzle.
