We selected the Seamstress Shop, a 1000 piece Ravensburger puzzle, as our next puzzle to solve, because of the wonderful imagery, vibrant colors, and our interest with sewing. Seamstress Shop is our thirteenth puzzle from the massive 87 puzzle collection.

The illustration’s style is similar to the The Cake Shed, another puzzle by Ravensburger. Illustration is filled with wonderful imagery, such as fabrics of different color and patterns, outfits, dresses in progress, floor mirror, a beautiful stained glass door, and an antique sewing machine on an ornate rug in the middle. Overall, the illustration is rich in color and patterns.

In addition, we noticed that Gibson has a similar puzzle called The Dressmaker’s Daughter. The illustration is almost the same as the Seamstress Shop, except for the dressmaker and her daughter.
Build:
Our strategy for solving the puzzle was to identify the major patterns and areas to sort first. So, we decided to sort for border pieces, stained glass door, sewing machine, ornate circular rug, antique cash register, mirror, floor baskets, and various distinct fabrics. Afterwards, we proceeded to assemble the puzzles in segments of the sorted areas in no particular order.
Difficulty:
Overall, it took three people slightly less than four hours in total time to complete the puzzle. In the above video, we forgot to pause the time after ending work on the puzzle one day. The puzzle is definitely a bit more challenging that other 1000 piece Ravensburger puzzles. The numerous fabric patterns made the puzzle more challenging as it took longer to sort and match.
Quality:
As previously stated, Ravensburger puzzles are of premium quality. The illustration is printed on linen paper. The puzzle pieces are thick, made of blue chipboard, and interlocks well together. The puzzles comes in a large rectangular shaped box that allows for a large print of the illustration. Lastly, a poster insert that includes illustration and a brief description of the artist is also included.

Linda, jigsaw puzzles are in high demand during the pandemic, especially the more popular ones. If you are fine with used puzzles, try looking on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, or OfferUp. I’ve heard some folks have success with checking Little Free Libraries in their neighborhood or posting to exchange puzzles on Nextdoor. As for this specific puzzle, I found the Gibson (Dressmaker’s Daughter) version for sale on eBay. On Amazon, only found knock off brands for the Seamstress Shop. Did find one from Ravensburger, but it was almost $100USD. Good luck!
